Art.sy launches to the public in partnership with SFMOMA, Fondation Beyeler, The British Museum, and 50 other leading institutions

New York, NY, October 8, 2012—Art.sy launched its website to the public today in partnership with over 50 leading art museums, artist estates and other nonprofit institutions, as well as 275+ leading contemporary, modern, and historical art galleries.

Art.sy, whose mission is to make all the world’s art accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, is a free platform where users can discover, learn about, or collect art. The site now includes more than 20,000 works of art from leading art galleries, museums, foundations, photo archives, and private collections.

Art.sy’s institutional partners include SFMOMA, Fondation Beyeler, Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Asian Art Museum, The British Museum, Walker Art Center, The Serpentine Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, Dallas Art Museum, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Walters Art Museum, Dedalus Foundation, Alexander Calder Foundation, Broad Art Foundation, and others. For many of these institutions, this will represent their first partnership with a major online platform.

Art.sy’s Founder and CEO, Carter Cleveland, stated:

Prior to public launch, Art.sy had 60,000 registered users, 100,000 invitation requests, 2,600,000 page views, and 50,000,000 artwork impressions in over 170 countries.
